Fake Play

The past few weeks we were busy in watching football games especially primer league, Spanish laliga and champion’s league but now they all are over for the season.so I am writing this blog as if our politics is a football match.
Well am reporting on the 2005(first half)and 2010(second half) election match between EPRDF and CUD .Unlike champions league both of the matches are held at EPRDF field as a result EPRDF have got a field advantage. On the first match line up CUD choose Birhanu (messi), Birtukan (xjavi ),Hailushawel (Piyoul) while EPRDF choose Berket(Gatuso),Aba Dula(Ballatoli) .Regarding the fans EPRDF sold 80% of the ticket sit to fans who wear a T-shirt with bee logo and only 20% was allowed for CUD. For this reason many CUD fans used the tactic of wearing EPRDF shirt till they got their ticket.
The match started and during the first 45minutes ball possession was dominated by CUD with 90% to 10% and CUD was leading 23 to 0 in the first half. After first half EPRDF coach Meles advised his players to win the game by all means necessary even if it means making the game American football. On the second half time two of the line referees were not seen in the pitch instead there was only one referee in the pitch.as a result the CUD team captain complained to the referee but he was booked along with all of his team mates. After that CUD players boycotted the match and the crowd entered the football pitch.as usual federal police use all force necessary to get rid of the fans from the pitch.
After that the referee called both teams captain to restart the match and the CUD captain affirmed that they won’t be playing unless the other two referees came to the pitch. While CUD captain was talking to the referee, light went off in the stadium for 5minutes and after it came the score board started as CUD 0 and EPRDF 0.Disappointed with the score board CUD captain left the pitch along with teams but Lidetu and some over bench CUD players approached the referee and told him they are ready to play.
In the second half the score board started with CUD 0=0 EPRDF and the referee allowed the EPRDF team to play with their hands, to use three goal keepers in the pitch and EPRDF was able to win the match with 99% of ball possession.
After the game the football federation banned all the boycotted CUD players to a life time.as a result most of former CUD players are now playing for the Ginbot Galaxy Team in America and the captain is wearing a number 7 t-shirt.

Say No to Adoption

Recently am seeing more and more Ferenjis carrying an Abesha little kids and walking around in the district am living. Until sometime I never had a problem about seeing these Ferenjis adopting the Abesha kids. I even considered the adopted kids as being lucky and having a bright future ahead of them.
After listening one of MeazaShegerChewata interview with the world renowned poet, author and artist LeminSisay I start to look deep into the other dark side of adoption.Lemn Sisay was born in England from his Ethiopian young mother who went there for her studies.Follwoing his birth his mother was told by the peoples in the university that the only way she can pursue her academic study is if and only if she give away her child to adoption. After being adopted by whites LemnSisay was able to live only until he was 12years old after that they kicked him out of their house. Until he became 18 Lemnwas officially stated as the government property as a result of these he was forced to live in different government shelters.
In his interview Lemn strongly condemned adoption system is mainly remaining unchecked and that is leaving countless number of adopted kids to suffer physically and psychologically. LemnSisay argues that many people in Ethiopia supports adoption from its economic aspect only. But these peoples are not witnessing the helpless kids that miss their families in western shelters, the cultural shock they are confronted to absorb during early age, possibilityof helpless kids falling on the wrong hands of adopters who sell organs or who are child molesters.
From my experience when my father and mother raised me along with my twin sister they were not rich, they don’t own house or cars but they were rich enough to give me a love that cannot be priced. My family was also encounter one Norwegian lady who was interested in adopting me and my sister fortunately my father rejected her offering saying my kids are not for sell. Until this very day there are some people who felt like as my dad made a wrong choice despite the fact that he raised two successful angels of his life.
Being raised as a poor kid can’t stop you from going to school or universityit’s just that you are expected to make a bit more effort compared to others.it is a fact that Ethiopia is the poorest nation in the world and whether Angelina and Brad adopts child from Ethiopia or not they won’t make no difference in alleviating poverty except amplifying our poorness. If it’s about helping the needy there are plenty ways Angelina can do instead of snatching away kids from their mothers. I am deadly sure that the commitment that is made by the adopters won’t value more than a piece of paper once their plane takes off from Addis skyline.
Having said all the above things about adoption I think the government should have to create a system that regulates adoption and should also have to take measure on agencies, persons who are profiting by departing mother and child.
Finally LemnSisay is a very successful person he wrote four books, he was awarded by Queen Elizabeth, his poems and literatures are sculptured in historic cities, museums and parks, he performed many classic act at different theatre house but he still remain disenchanted internally.in his final words he stated that despite all his success and achievement nothing can match the day he reunited with his mother after searching her for years.
If you know how much it means to live with the family you all love then
SAY NO TO ADOPTION

Don’t Know Much

I always enjoy listening Sam Cooke hits especially one of his timeless and popular song of all time titled ‘Don’t Know Much ‘.even though I started my blog about Sam Cooke I won’t be discussing either Sam Cooke or his songs but I’ll be talking about campus life.
Just the other day while I was arguing with my dad about my education
He said ‘son you are a fourth year mechanical engineering student and what can you practically do as far as your study is considered’
I never hesitated from saying ‘nothing’ and then he was shocked to learn that after years of his and the government investments to make me a competent engineer I still have no clue how I can succeed in my future using my academic knowledge. Following that he asks me to tell him about what I have been learning throughout all this time in my campus stay. Well I told him that I was well thought by my university the following lists of points
• how to swallow a non-delicious café mealwithout tastingafter lining up 3 times a day for about 15 to 30 minutes
• how to live with 8 dorm mates in a tiny room while your nose always want to remain closed as if it’s a supermarket under renovation
• how to survive without shower for weeks and hoping someday I will be showering like cat’s does with their tongues
• how to survive days without a water to drink and hoping someday I will have a hump like a camel
• how to remain awake as a guard during exams eve
• how to kiss illiterate lecturer asses or bow for their sentiment
• how to hibernate in a place that melts your aspiration for freedom
• how to be treated as a colored by my own people as if I am in some restaurant in Chicago during the 1960’s
• how to develop a technique of falling asleep with wide open eyes in lecture rooms
• how to copy assignment without changing it as if it’s a bible quote
• how to tattoo myself with formulas during exams like a Mexican gang or Gojam lady
• how to cheat in exams like tiger wood did to his wife in real life

The above list of things were some of the many things that I have learnt in my campus stay not to mention the significant amount of students who are vaccinated by the incumbent affiliates so that they won’t be sicken by unemployment (membership of students in government political parties based on their ethnicity, with the hope of issuing a job after graduation). This all things sums up and make me a lame, radical and pessimist person. While I was in high school I never thought for a second I will be faced with challenges that makes my campus stay as hard as doing time in prison. Now I really do understand why some of campus students hypnotize themselves with drug and the reason is to find a temporary relief from the excruciating pain they are suffering even if it’s a wrong choice.
Finally I just want to dedicate one song as a sound track for anyone who wants to know about my academic knowledge.
Don’t know much about history
Don’t know much about biology
Don’t know much about science folk
Don’t know much about French I took
But I do know one and one is three
Hahahhaha

The Road to Narcotic City

When I was a little boy I used to watch a series film called Acapulco Bay even though the film was not intended for underage boy like me. That’s when I got interested to go to Acapulco Bay because it’s a city you all would love to experience the delicate touch of nature. Just after a year or so Acapulco Bay became one of the last places in the planet I would visit if I am asked to. The reason to defect from my interest was the ruthless killings, kidnappings and the risky security situation of Mexico cities because of their war on drug that resulted in killing of 16000 civilians in just four years.
Currently I am witnessing my own capital city Addis Ababa advancing towards the destination of becoming anarcotic city at 120 MPH and here is how. Most of the khat selling shops in Addis are now hiring more workers following their income rise .The khat houses are hiring more workers in order to provide door to door service for any khat consumer like pizza delivery. The workers in the khat shops are equipped with and bicycles so that they can arrive in time for their delivery and they also wear uniform that advertise the khat business company they are working.
With the current drug addiction toll the business of selling khat become more prosperous and promising. AS a result of this khat houses will broaden up their reach out by buying cars, planes and delivering their products to any place that is starving for the service. In order to prove to you the above point do you know that each night countless number of minibuses travel from Bahir Dar a city to Addis Ababa,Mekelle and other major cities to deliver a tons of khat and they sell their products in gram to the consumers. The Bahir Dar khat which is sometimes referred as Colombia is one of the many khat types you can find in the market and it is sold from 10 birr up to 13 birr per 100gram which used to be 5 up to 7 birr three years ago. In order to carry out their smooth operation the guys in the drug business bribe security officials especially those who work on region border so that they won’t confiscate the products and there are also kebelle officals who are paid for tipping off the business guy prior to implementation of any law or patrol that will affect their business.
The rises in business among the khat industry will create competitiveness among the business tycoons that will definitely led to territorial conflict. On the other hand the nation is producing countless number of jobless and drug addicted youths who can be easily manipulated by any of the drug business tycoons or any illegal group to carry out an organized crime.
Finally even if the government seems to be not concerned at all about the significant amount of metropolitan youth that is becoming lame in the drug world then it won’t be too long before our peaceful cities turn into a war zone like most of the cities in Latin America.
DRUG+JOBLESS=CRIME

Home Trash Security

Guys just the other day I was talking to an old friend most of the topic we were discussing was about world politics and Ethiopian deemed democracy. Without knowing, we land in to an issue that start to become clear for me how far the Ethiopian government is willing to go in spying its own citizens.
As any of you guys can assume citizens all over the world whether in USA or Ethiopia are spied in quite similar techniques for instance your phone can be tapped, your email can be hacked, your post mails might be opened, your movement can be filmed or photographed and this all personal invasions are conducted in the name of protecting one nation from any kind of attack. That’s why USA established the Homeland Security to protect the nation from attacks like 911 and Ethiopian government after taking its time in recovering from 2005 election punch it established the unofficial Home Trash Security agency that gets your approval without knowing what it real is and that protect the nation tyrants from any freedom.
Home Trash Security is one of the spying techniques thatwere founded just two years ago. Prior to its founding every trash picking in Addis Ababa resident homes was done by private entrepreneurs .The labourers hired by the trash picking owners used to be hard working ,disciplined and who behave decently in fear of not losing their job. even though the private entrepreneurs where successful in making themselves a successful business man but the government was not hesitant from monopolizing and snatching away their flourishing business and extend its spying reach out to every home.
The current labours hired by kebelle officals to collect your trash are not just labourers but they are also assigned to go through all of your trash papers, documents or anything that indicate your motive as anti-government. These labourers are drug addicts and burglars who are becoming a security risk for people living around my hood even though residents complained to kebelles about this people attitude the kebelle officals seems not to bother as long as Abel blog draft is fetched to them from the trash. Also during election times the government invest millions of cashto pay a per dime for the poketfelt not heartfelt support, chanting and marching of these labours.
Finally if you just in case tune to national media channels and heard unemployment rate is lowering then you better start to be mindful about the trash you are disposing because the workforce of Home Trash Security is picking up.

Binladen Isn’t Dead

Binladen isn’t Dead
It’s been exactly a year since American special forces conducted an operation that killed the Al Qaida leader Osama Binladen. Following this historic military raid President Obama was accredited for his excellent handling of the situation as commander and chief of the army even though he was nailed millions times before by his republican opponents as being delicate toward the war on terror.
After the killing of Binladenpeople where claiming that the world asbeing a safer place than ever before .But on the contrary the influence of Binladen seems not to vanish along with his existence because he was successful enough in planting his poisonous ideology in the name of Islam even in parts of the world where he have never been. To prove his ideological influence you can simply look out terrorists organization like Boko Haram and Al Shabab who are conducting an attack almost in a daily basis targeting on poor African peoples who are already struggling to survive in a fragile states like Somalia and Nigeria .At the same time the killing of innocent civilians in Afghan by ISAF forces is also creating a window of opportunity for Taliban and other groups to recruit civilians who prefer to done the undone justice by themselves.
For so long we have been flooded and fooled by western Media’s extensive coverage of terrorism as a result we are compelled to always relate terrorism as a war between extreme Islamism and westerns but terrorism is something that we ought to see in its broader context .Terrorism is the killing, torturing and abusing of ordinary citizens who haven’t got the chance to defend themselves.
When an American officer shoots and burns sixteen members of an afghan poor family, when Assad orders snipers to be planted on roof tops and end a poor Syrian life for just walking on the street, when insane ideologist like Breverick address his message for change with the killing of teenagers who earn a better future, when tyrannies passes anti-terrorism law and legitimize their terrorism act of silencing their people voice then Binladen isn’t dead for me cause there are countless number of Binladen hiding in every halls of palace, parliament, military uniforms and the world won’t be safer unless those peoples are denied to convey their message with their force.

Part Three ‘I Have A Dream’ The Ethiopian People Version

I have a dream that one day on the hills of Tigray, the sons of former free peoples and the sons of Eritrean will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Addis , a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the political membership of their family but by the content of their performance. I have a dream today!
I have a dream that one day, down in Humera , the exit gate to exodus and exile will be turnover to a gate of entrance to freedomland.one day right there in the border of Somalia kids will be playing in the flourished farmlands that once were a hub of immigration camp and agony.
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; ‘and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.’
This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to my bed with.
With this faith, we will be able to crush the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to redefine our representation of famine in the dictionary to a bread basket. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
And this will be the day—this will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with new meaning: My country ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died, land of the freeman pride,
From every mountainside, let freedom ring!
And if Ethiopia is to be a great nation, this must become true.
And so let freedom ring from the hilltops of RasDashen .
Let freedom ring from the jungle of southern Ethiopia.
Let freedom ring from the deep valley of Nile.
Let freedom ring from the carved churches of Lalibela to the first mosque in Al Nejashi.
But not only that:
Let freedom ring from the street of Addis.
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Gondar.
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Adwa.
From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of Ethiopians children, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old freedom spiritual: Free at last! Free at last!
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
